Mainland airports
LAX, SFO, SAN, OAK and SJC all have Hawaii service on various days. Search the airport you can actually reach at 6 a.m. — a cheaper LAX fare is not cheaper if you live in San Jose and miss the flight.
Island choice
Honolulu (HNL) has the most frequencies. Direct flights to Maui or Kona save a connection when they exist; they also sell out around holidays.
